Chinese New Year '09

>Joo Enn, Shir-Li, Pui Yee, Sy Qiao and Matt playing poker.. =D

It's Chinese New Year...This year I'm not celebrating CNY with my family. And for the next 7 years, I would not be celebrating it in Malaysia as well. It's quite a pity.

Anyway, for this year, I'm not actually 'celebrating' CNY. But it was a blast!

24/1/09

My friends and I sort of 'planned' a reunion dinner among ourselves and with our seniors. We went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. The name of the restaurant is 'Oriental House' (if I'm not mistaken). We went to book the places and order the dishes before the actual day. We wanted everything to be spicy! Lol. It's probably because we are Malaysians and we're used to eating spicy food. We seldom get the chance to enjoy spicy food here. Okay.. Everyone turned up just in time for dinner. Haha! And guess what?!?! All of the dishes were indeed SPICY!! I mean ALL! Even the soup is spicy~ The food was nice! I've not tasted Chinese food since I arrived at St. Andrews. Sort of miss the delicious food back in Malaysia.. After dinner, everyone went to Tesco (that's the only supermarket in St. Andrews, very much smaller than Tesco in Malaysia.).

Later, we decided to go to David Russell's Apartments, which is 15 mins walk away from New Hall. (Btw, New Hall is the place that I'm staying in right now.) After a long walk, we finally reached there. The facilities there are damn good! They even have a games room whereby you can play XBox or watch movies using the big projector and screen. Everyone had fun playing the games. After that, we went to the activity room with games like table tennis, pool, and 'table football' (I don't know what it should be called). Matt brought the table tennis ball, etc. so we could play. This was my first time playing table tennis. I played quite badly because I hit the ball too hard. T_T Haha..

We played and played till 1am. Wow! This was the first time I actually played till so late~ By the time I reached my residence hall, it's already 1++am. And I slept at 2am. Lolx.. XD

It's supposed to be new year's eve.

Mum called me and told me that they've just finished eating steamboat! Talked to my sis and bro. They wanted me to give them 1% of the angpau $ that they have taken on my behalf. Lol. I'm speechless.

Haha.. I've been struggling to finish my homework and assignments. Didn't manage to finish them though. It doesn't matter. We're going out for dinner again. Initially, we planned to go to get some fish and chips. Eventually, we end up in "Marmaris Kebab & Pizza Restaurant". Gosh! We ordered a lot of food~ I doubted we could finish everything. In the end, we didn't. The waiter even threatened us to finish up all the food! I can't help laughing. He was damn serious. And it was a real threat. He even took up a shovel (a very big one! I seriously don't know where he got that from) and that startled everyone!! Haha.. The situation was in a way 'scary' and funny~ Hahahaha.... XD

After dinner, everyone agreed to go to David Russell's Apartments (DRA) again! We played and played there. Matt and Pheng Shiew even taught us how to play Texas Poker and the HongKong style poker that we often see in dramas. Haha!

It was indeed fun. Michael played the drums. Wow! He's good! I played some chords with the piano whereas he played the drums. It was pretty impressive. I'll get the video from Sy Qiao and post it in my blog later.

~My friends~

Yeah, these are some of my classmates. There should be 9 of us. But I didn't get a chance to include the other 2. (sorry...>.<) The other 2 are Michael Gurguhzi (hope I spelt it correctly) from Vienna, Austria and Mohamed Ahmed from Nigeria.

From the left:

  • Joo Enn
  • Pui Yee
  • Shir-Li
  • Pheng Shiew
  • Faiz
  • Yuan Chun (no longer uses the name 'Kheng'. So sad.)
  • Sy Qiao

Haha.. We took this photo when we explored St. Andrews during the weekends. All 7 of us are from Malaysia. Sy Qiao and I are from Muar. Shir-Li, Pui Yee and Faiz are from KL. Pheng Shiew and Joo Enn are from Penang. I realised that there's a lot of people from Penang although it's just an island. Lol. Even the air steward is from Penang. Recalling...--> When I was coming down from the plane when I reached Glasgow Airport, the air steward was bading goodbyes to every passenger. As I was holding my passport in my hand, he saw! And he said:" Oh, you've a Malaysia passport. Why didn't you tell me? (laughs*) I'm from Penang!"

My friends are damn funny. Almost everyone gets very 'high' when the sky turns dark. [Perhaps I haven't mentioned this, in St. Andrews, the sky gets dark at around 4-5pm due to the winter solstice] The funniest part would be during dinner when everyone sat down and eat at the cafeteria. Jokes would start 'flying' across the table. Everyone laughed and laughed! XD

Almost 2 weeks..

Yeah, I've finally made it through almost 2 weeks in Scotland without my mummy and daddy. Lol.
I should have updated my blog since ages ago.
But too bad, I took quite a long time to get my internet connection fixed. And I'm kinda busy too. Days seemed to pass very quickly here.
In just a blink of an eye, I've been away from home for..12 days!
I'm neither sad nor happy to leave home.
Not really homesick.
But everytime when I speak to my parents in the phone, I'll always feel a gush of tears rushing through my eyes. (I didn't cry though..)
I still miss them a lot.
And too bad, my course has been extended till July, which means I will only be going home after 10th of July. T_T

Seriously, I wanted to blog about this.
To be continued..
[opps! ;D ]
